12.5 acre and just 6 anglers on per week. Yes, everyone has plenty of water and many different angling options from overhanging trees and marginal snags to straight forward open water fishing. This really is a true ‘angling’ water.
A real easy drive through France with absolutely no towns or cities to negotiate. You are sat on motorways and dual carriageways all the way, with minimal road switches.
Spirit Lake is sat amongst an old established complex of gravel pits, in the direction of Metz.
We were first invited to view these gravel pits in 2022 and instantly fell in love with them. Nature had well and truly reclaimed the area and it was difficult even getting close to the edge of the water in many places. This raw wilderness really appealed to us, as did some of the carp we spotted swimming around there.
Liking what we had seen, we were offered the chance to pick three of these waters to help move forward and develop, Spirit was our first shout and within weeks, we were helping with stocking new fish.
Late 2022 and 2023 saw a lot of work done to open old tracks back up and make them wide enough to be car friendly too. This work has remained as subtle as possible to keep a natural feel to the area. This is certainly not your typical manicured French commercial venue, retaining a subtle rawness, leaving you pitched in grassy swims with natural fronts.
At the time of writing (February 2024) the largest carp we know of is a 64lb common. But with large un-known fish being caught during the few ‘test’ fish in’s that have been carried out, we know we are still scratching the surface and still learning what original stock swims in Spirit Lake, this is a nice mystery we feel to be missing on many venues.
Spirit Lake nestles within a secure site with supermarkets and restaurants just a short drive away. Facilities include a new toilet and shower block, along with electric sockets for charging etc. Next door to it is Quest Lake which we have also opened for separate booking and to the side is a 44-acre lake we are still preparing.
We are certain those first to fish will fall in love with the place and it will become a go-to venue every year.
